Recently we were at our friend’s house for a much needed visit. Emmaline quickly gravitated to their kitchen (her favorite room in anyone’s house) and found their fridge covered in kid friendly magnets. She laughed as she moved them around and eventually tore them off the fridge to put them in her mouth (her seal of approval). I asked my friend Danette where she had found such cute magnets and she told me that she had made them. Uh oh– I was in trouble. No way could I EVER make something that cute. I can hardly draw a stick figure let alone paint wood cut outs to look like animals!! I can wire stereo systems, quilt, drywall, and do other random useful things– but when it comes to drawing or panting, a three year old could put me to shame. She laughed at me and said that she bought the wooden animals pre-painted at a local craft store so all I had to do was stick a magnet on them. I was in luck! So yesterday I went out and bought 10 cute animals and magnets. Voila! Amazing, cute, inexpensive, Emmaline friendly magnets that she can play with while mom is busy cooking and/or cleaning in the kitchen. She loves them and always goes for the duck first! I figure once she gets old enough, I can use them to teach her colors and animals. I might even go get some more when my craft allowance gets replenished! :)
